Celebration of Eid Al Adha in the US and Saudi Arabia S2 E14 7-06-22
The Ray Hanania Radio Show July 6, 2022; Hosted by the US Arab Radio Network and sponsored by Arab News
Today we are going to focus on the Eid al Adha "Festival of Sacrifice" one of the most important religious holidays in Islam as it marks the end of the Hajj. The holiday honors Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael, and calls for a “qurbani,” or animal sacrifice, and then distributing the meat to your family, neighbors and especially the poor. It begins July 8 through July 9. The lamb is sacrificed and divided into 3 parts, one for the impoverished, one from friends and one for family, symbolizing the sharing ...
Our first guest is Besheer Mohamed of the PEW Research Center who will talk about Muslims in America and the challenges they face and their celebrations of Eids. Are they accepted in America?
Next we speak with Atya Kazmi, Area Manager, with the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) Relief Chicago on the importance of charitable work and giving this Eid holiday plus their effort to collect and donate 1,000 toys to needy children ...
And, we will then speak with Rawan Radwan, Deputy Sections Head and regional correspondent at Arab News Newspaper, discussing how Saudi Arabia is preparing for the Eid al Adha celebrations which begin July 8/9 ...

Today we are going to focus on an event that took the lives of 34 American soldiers and injured 173 others ... the Israeli attack with jets and torpedo boats against the USS Liberty on June 8, 1967 ... the veterans did not get any help from the US Government during the vicious attack ... The US Military has continued to minimize the attack as an accident but the survivors who were on the Liberty dispute the findings and believe a full and comprehensive investigation has never been done ... what really happened 55 years ago this June 8?
We invited six survivors who served on the USS Liberty that horrific day ... to join us to help us understand what happened
Don Pageler
Communications Technician, wounded in the Israeli attack while helping other wounded shipmates. Pageler was awarded the Presidential UNIT Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Cnduct Medals and National Defense Medal.

Phil Tourney
Tourney received the Bronze Star for heroism for rescuing fellow servicemembers and praises Tourney BUT does not mention the state that directed the attack, Israel ... The Government has done everything to coverup Israel's role and minimize what Israels did.
Larry Bowen

He received a Purple Heart for injuries received during the attack, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for sustained superior performance over my 21 years of military service.

The meaning of Lebanon's elections with ATFL VP Jean AbiNader
May 18, 2022 S2 E7
Today we are going to look at the recent elections in Lebanon ... It has been a tumultuous two years for Lebanon ... the explosion of August 4, 2020 which took 218 lives, injured 7,000 people and left 300,000 homeless. Then there was the economic crisis that followed, and the uncertain and continued political turmoil ... all this has pushed Lebanon into gridlock, a nation that continues to be governed by a sectarian or Confessional division of political office.
The head of state is the president, who is elected by a two-thirds majority of the National Assembly for a term of six years and is eligible to serve consecutive terms. By an unwritten convention, the president must be a Maronite Christian, the premier a Sunni Muslim, and the speaker of the National Assembly a Shi'iMuslim. The president, in consultation with the speaker of the National Assembly and the parliamentary deputies, invites a Sunni Muslim to form a cabinet, and the cabinet members’ portfolios are organized to reflect the sectarian balance. The cabinet, which holds more executive power than the president, requires a vote of confidence from the Assembly in order to remain in power.
With us to help us understand all of this is Jean AbiNader, the Vice President for Policy at the American Task Force on Lebanon. He has decades of experience in public affairs/advocacy, international marketing, education and training, and project management in the Arab world. He regularly contributes analysis in a weekly blog hosted by ATFL on current events in Lebanon and the region.
AbiNader can help us understand the election results this past week and the impact of the elections in the context of the explosion, the economic and political turmoil, and the complex confessional government division.
The Ray Hanania Show is broadcast live every Wednesday at 5 PM Eastern EST on radio at:

AbiNader has been working internationally since he finished his post-graduate education in intercultural affairs and eventually had assignments in 40 countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa at the intersection of international marketing, organizational change, cross-cultural communications, and workforce development.
As Vice President of the American Task Force on Lebanon, he oversees the communications team, producing blogs, position papers, press statements, information materials, and policy studies related to US-Lebanon political, economic, and security issues.
He consults on strategic communications and organizational change for both international and US clients; has led a graduate level seminar at Georgetown University; lectures at American University on international development and challenges in intercultural negotiations; and a leads a seminar on effective negotiations at Al-Akhawayn University in Morocco. O5-04-22 Raymond Lopez on anti-Arab racism in Chicago; And, update on Iran
Thursday May 05, 2022
Thursday May 05, 2022
The Ray Hanania Show for May 4, 2022, S2E5
topics include two segments; the first on discrimination in Chicago against Arabs and Muslims; and the second on the Iranian resistance urging tougher sanctions on Iran
In Segment 1, we're going to speak with Raymond Lopez, alderman of Chicago's 15th Ward ... Alderman Lopez was one of the first to speak out against Mayor Lori Lightfoot's targeting of Arab Stores for closure last summer ... Mayor Lightfoot closed 150 mostly Arab owned businesses but re-opened them thanks to the help of Ald. Lopez who joined the Arab business owners at a press conference in Sept. demanding she explain her actions.... rather than explain Mayor Lightfoot immediately reopened the businesses and has tried to avoid the subject since ...
Alderman Lopez is also an announced candidate for the February 2023 Chicago Mayor elections .... and I think he is going to do very well ...
In Segment 2, we'll look at Iran's continued efforts to build a nuclear weapon and how they are using the JCPOA negotiations in Vienna to give them more time to advance their nuclear weapons industry and get closer to the bomb with our guest Shahin Gobadi, a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran and spokesperson for the NCRI-Iran.org
